With family in town, we headed out to Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day with completely clear skies and temperatures in the 60s. Rocky Mountain National Park is about a two hour drive from Denver. We visited both Sprague Lake and Nymph Lake on this gorgeous Monday in January.
The Sprague Lake Nature Loop is 0.8 miles long with an elevation of 8,720 ft.
Nymph Lake can be accessed via a trail off the Bear Lake Trailhead, which is just a bit further from Sprague Lake. The hike to Nymph lake is a short 0.5 mile from the trailhead, which continues further on to Dream Lake and Emerald Lake. Since this small lake was completely frozen and snowed over, it's difficult to recognize at first. The elevation here reaches 9,705 ft.
